Overview
Start this trip with 5 days of enjoying the sea based wonders of Prince William Sound, including stunning tidewater glaciers, marine life, and the autumn colors of the peatland bog.
The next portion will venture north into the wilderness tundra via private vehicle. Leave the northern temperate zone and cross into the Arctic Circle. Enjoy hikes in the Brooks Range. Muskox, caribou, and brown bear await. Take a day flight into Gates of the Arctic National Park for more exploration. Numerous nights in the dark, northern latitudes are ideal conditions for Aurora Borealis viewing without the winter temperatures.
End this adventure in the northernmost reaches of the Alaska road system, the “North Slope” region.

Land accommodations in Anchorage the night before and after voyage, land accommodations in Fairbanks, Coldfoot, Wiseman, and Deadhorse.
Private transportation to and from the vessel for voyage; Private transportation with guide Hugh Rose for 7 guests in a Mercedes Sprinter van with room to stand as well as windows that open.
All meals with exception to the night before voyage, and the night after voyage. Full bar on voyage; wine available on land portion.

Then you head north by private vehicle—past Fairbanks, across the Arctic Circle, and into the Brooks Range to hike vast tundra, spot muskox and caribou, and fly into Gates of the Arctic National Park.
The September timing is deliberate: dark enough for vivid aurora displays at night, warm enough to actually enjoy being outside, and timed for peak fall color across the tundra.
